ANNE'S LAND - PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND
New London is the birthplace of Lucy Maud Montgomery. The home where she was born is now an historic site and you can visit her birthplace and see her room and wedding dress. Keep your eyes open for Anne because she may be around. Turn left and follow route 6.
The Stanley River flows into New London Bay. The area is popular as a summer retreat and boats of all types ply the waters of the bay. One of the best craft shops on the Island is located here right next to one of the best restaurants. Just after you cross the bridge, turn left toward Cavendish.
Cavendish Beach is located in the P.E.I. National Park. The white sand beach, dunes and warm ocean waters are make the beach the most popular on the Island. The dunes provide protection for ponds and a diversity of flora and fauna. The boardwalk leading to the beach is a good place to stop and watch for birds in the ponds.
Many historic buildings in the area have been restored and the Post Office is no exception. Just past the lights at the junction of routes 6 and 13, we'll continue straight ahead.
Less than a kilometre down the road, in the quieter part of Cavendish you will find some great places to stay. Relax in comfortable and pleasant surroundings and enjoy the entertainment amenities of the Cavendish area. In Cavendish you'll find beaches, shopping, dining, entertainment, amusement parks and many other activities to make your stay on Prince Edward Island a memorable one.
