Sunsets & Seascapes Region is famous for the red sandstone cliffs
formed by wind and water. At the Cascumpec Bay House you will be
sure to enjoy gorgeous sunsets on the bay. You can spend the day
at one of the BEAUTIFUL BEACHES on the Cascumpec
Bay or take a short drive down to Cedar Dunes Provincial Park,
Mill River Provincial Park, or to Jacques Cartier Provincial
Park
to enjoy the spectacular Kildare Capes.
You can enjoy fine DINING at the Hernewood
Dining Room Mill River Resort, West Point Lighthouse,Wind and Reef Restaurant North Cape and The Pier Restaurant where you will
enjoy great dining.
Drive
up to NORTH CAPE to see the most westerly tip of
the Island. In North Cape you will find The Reef at North Cape,
the longest natural rock reef in North America, the site of many
early shipwrecks. You can walk out onto the reef at low tide and
witness the « meeting of the waters » as the Gulf of
St. Laurence and the Northuberland Strait coverge as the tide moves
back in, it is also an ideal spot for seal watching. The Atlantic
Wind Test Site, Black Marsh Nature Trail with spectacular ocean views North Cape Wind Farm, Aquarium,
Gift Shop and the Wind & Reef Restaurant are also
located at North Cape.
Other great ATTRACTIONS include the Prince
Edward Island Potato Museum, located in O’Leary, Seaweed
Pie Cafe & Irish Moss Interpretive Centre where you can
enjoy seaweed pie and learn about the story of the moss, located
in Miminegash. The Alberton Museum & Genealogy Centre,
located in Alberton. Skinners Pond Schoolhouse, the oldest
original schoolhouse on P.E.I.., located in Skinners Pond. Historic
Site at the Green, located in Tignish, MacAuslands Woolen Mill near Bloomfield, Green Park Shipbuilding Museum and Historic Yeo House, The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside, Tignish Cultural Center, West Point Lighthouse and Museum, Irish Moss gathering after a storm. The story of seaweed harvest is told at the Interpretive center in Miminegash.

for bicyle rentals and Captain Mitch’s Deep-Sea Fishing
& Boat Tours, Bike, canoe and kayak rentals at Mill River Resort marina, There is also great birdwatching
for the avid bird watcher along the area’s « inland
waterways », a shallow strip or water protected by sand dunes
from the Gulf of St. Laurence.
If you enjoy GOLFING
spend the day at the Mill River Golf Course, a
beautiful 18 hole Provincial course, par 72, 6,400 yards, very scenic
and challenging, or spend the day at the 9 hole St. Felix
Golf and Country Club. Another attraction located close-by
is the Mill River Fun Park. It is a great place for children
to enjoy a swimming pool and waterslides, mini golf, play area,
bumper boats and sea of balls.
Great CRAFT SHOPS include Quilt Gallery and
Fabric Crafts ‘N More, Indian Art and Craft of North America, Lennox Island,
Back Road Folk Art, Basket Weavers of PEI, Richmond,Holiday Island Productions/Tignish
Treasures and the West Point Lighthouse Craft Shop. Don't forget to visit Anne of Green Gables in Cavendish and The Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre in Summerside, numerous local festivals take place from July to September.
