Prince Edward Island's only winery is a few miles away in Little Sands. There are also numerous walking/biking trails nearby. High Bank is just minutes away from the Nova Scotia / Prince Edward Island ferry terminal in Wood Islands and the local fishing villages of Murray Harbour and Murray River.

Lighthouses abound on PEI and "just up the road" is the Cape Bear Lighthouse standing guard over the rocky southeast corner of PEI. The lighthouse, known as the Marconi Station, was the first to receive an SOS from the Titanic on the night of April 14, 1912.
