Seaweed Secrets

For generations, the Gillis family has harvested and sold Irish Moss, raked from the shores around the Point. We, along with marine botanist Dr. Irene Novaczek, want to share this experience, and the secrets of these plants with you.

Sitting on the beach, Irene will show you the different kinds of seaweeds found along the Island's shore; many of which are edible and have medicinal properties.

When finished at the shore, you'll go to the Gillis home to help Goldie use Irish Moss to prepare a delicious seaweed pie; to have with your lunch of seaweed soup and dulse biscuits.

Gilbert will give you some Irish Moss and Goldie will provide recipies for how to use it when you get home.
