Modern fishing boats pass by this range light, which indicates the safe channel to this historic estuary. Nearly 200 such vessels start fishing operations in late April, lobstering during the months of May and June and continuing through the summer and fall for crab, ground fish, herring, mackerel, and blue fin tuna.
Several species of seals surf by in the tide looking for something to eat or sometimes just frolicking in the waves. Sit by the light and watch the curiosity of the harbour and grey seals as the gulls look for tidbit leftovers.
Pleasure craft make this estuary one their must visit destinations for safe berthage and place to visit.
